Get To Know Jen

Jennifer has had the opportunity to work with teenagers in a variety of settings for over 10 years. Prior to entering the field of education, Jennifer was a full-time youth minister in Florida and Texas. While ministering to students in grades 6th-12th, Jennifer had the opportunity to not only guide students spiritually, but she was also blessed with being able to assist students as they sought out the many answers to life’s questions. While in youth ministry, Jennifer had multiple experiences in leading students in group studies along with taking part in a variety of speaking engagements that were geared towards youth.

Educationally, Jennifer has had the opportunity to teach at both public and private schools; both middle school students and high school students. In addition to teaching, Jennifer has also held a variety of leadership positions including reading department chair, English department chair, teacher mentor, and curriculum coordinator. Jennifer has also had the opportunity to speak at teacher conferences on the subject of students and purpose.

Upon graduating from high school, Jennifer had absolutely no interest in college because she had no clue as to who she was, what her gifts, skills, talents, and passions were, and she had no idea as to how the whole college process worked. Her immediate goals were to attend community college and graduate with a 2-year secretarial degree that, in turn, would allow her to make a living. Little did she know that when she attended the community college, her thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs would take a drastic turn. After graduating from Florida Keys Community College with her Associate in Arts degree, Jennifer transferred to the University of North Florida where she graduated with honors and a Bachelors degree in Communications/Public relations. While enrolled at both FKCC and UNF, Jennifer had the opportunity to take part in a variety of organizations and leadership positions including:

· President of the honor society, Phi Theta Kappa
· One of two student representatives on the President’s Cabinet
· President of the Public Relations Student Society
· Resident Assistant in the girls freshman dorm
· Conference Assistant
· Student representative for the College of Arts and Sciences
· Leader within the Fellowship of Christian Athletes
· Girls group study leader

Upon graduating from UNF, Jennifer attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. In 2001, Jennifer graduated with a Masters degree in Christian Education. Currently, Jennifer is studying for her Doctoral degree in Instructional Leadership/Curriculum Development.

Jennifer enjoys collaborating with teachers and doing whatever it takes to assist them in becoming successful within the classroom. Jennifer also enjoys working with students. Jennifer is passionate about assisting students in discovering their gifts, skills, and passions so that upon graduating from high school, they have a clear picture of which direction to walk. Additionally, Jennifer enjoys sharing her love of literature with high school students.
